Curchorem is a town enriched with talents in art, culture, music and literature. This age old tradition is aptly carried forward by the generations that follow.
Considering the need for an auditorium for the lovers of Art, culture, music etc. foundation stone for construction of a hall was laid down on 1st June, 1994.
As per the suggestions of the then Advisory Body The Government of Goa agreed to expand the scope of the premises to be suitable for staging dramas, tiatrs and other cultural programmes.
The premises, standing besides the Curchorem Sanguem Road at the hill foot of Marutigad, was then constructed and inaugurated on 19th April, 2004.
The auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem was functional under the control of Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, from its inception till March, 2013.
From the year 2013-14 Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem got a distinct identity as an institution Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, Central act 21 of 1860 having Registration No.322/Goa/2012 and became functional under the Chairmanship of Shri Nilesh Cabral, Member of Legislative Assembly, Curchorem constituency.
Various programmes are now regularly being conducted for the benefit of the people around the vicinity of Curchorem town. Drama Festival, Tiatr Festival, Sangeet Natak Mahotsav, Children Theatre Workshop, Comprehensive Theatre Workshop, Art camps for children, Women empowerment programmes, Workshops on various folk forms and music, Programmes to pay tribute the stalwarts in the field of music, Christmas carol singing competition, Quawali, World Theatre Day, Bhakti Dhara, Craft workshops for women, Educational programmes, Health Awareness programmes, Awareness programmes on Law, Photography workshops, Local Konkani Drama competitions, Shiv Jayanti, Students Day are some of the programmes conducted by Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem regularly. Various festivals in association with Kala Academy, Tiatr Academy of Goa, Directorate of Art & Culture, Ravindra Bhavan Margao are also conducted for the benefit of the general public.
Various programmes organized by institutions from this area are also performed in association considering the importance of the programme and the auditorium is allotted free of cost, if the programme is free to the public.
Besides the above, the auditorium is made available for booked programmes viz. Performances of Dramas, Tiatrs, Social Gatherings, Competitions etc.
Now the 2nd phase of Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem is finalized to be taken up just behind the backside of the existing premises which will be adjacent to the proposed Bus-stand complex coming between the Ambedkar Chawk and GSUDA market. As also the renovation of existing auditorium will be taken up.
Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem keeps healthy relations with the artists and general public and instrumental in promoting the art and culture of Goa.
